Not at all. I don't mind any of my public posts being linked to, and I probably don't mind the f'locked ones being linked to in a lot of cases (I expect people to just apply common sense about those, really :) )
It's just a wooden bridge...nina321December 8 2004, 14:21:00 UTC
Hahaha, I've heard some crackign stories about Queens' college in the past, in my time spent lounging on Erasmus lawn. I've heard it introduced as Magdelene College. I've heard it called Erasmus college. And don't even get me started about all the bulls**t stories about the Bridge. Ah yes, the mathematical bridge. It isn't called that at all. Of course it was designed using maths, show me a bridge that wasn't! And there were always bolts in it, and engineers didn't take it apart to see how it stood with no bolts then they weren't unable to put it back together and so have to put bolts in. The bridge is the second in its place. The original had sunken bolts, and so gave the ompression of a boltless bridge, but they were there all along. Just hidden.
Aslo, what is the deal with having to drag the punt over the rollers? That was terrifying!
But yes, your entry made me laugh a lot there. I miss Cambridge and all its crazy weirdness.

All you need is two strong individuals with Great Big Boots on, and a reason for not being one of them. Going downwards, you need one individual with bare and sticky feet and no sense of self-preservation. :D
(found this through Ozzy's link in his LJ, I should add)
I'd agree perfectly with the descriptions in that comment; I think it perfectly sums up the intangiable quality which I've liked about Cambridge every time I visit, which is never often enough. Cambridge does seem to have the slightly absurd undercurrent that defies all common sense, and I think you've got it spot-on in the writing above.
