Sometimes you have to find what you actually are sorry for: for hurting them, for causing a rift between you. Sometimes a bit of time apart can help, as long as they know that you aren't ignoring them.

Let's see: my codename is Nightcrawler but it actually comes from my mother when I was a baby. I could crawl at a very early age and was almost entirely nocturnal. I was her "little night crawler".

And it stuck.

Wait, wait... Nightcrawler? Like the X-men?

I didn't realize we had celebrities here.

But, I think you might have a point. I've done the space thing... the being honest with myself thing is a little harder.

Ja, just like the X-Men.

We just keep turning up, like a bad penny.

That's the thing with forgiveness and contrition, they do not always have to match. You could feel contrite for hurting that loved one's feelings but perhaps not the act itself, but still receive forgiveness, because forgiveness is not only for the one asking, but for the one offering it.

The hard part is knowing what you truly feel sorry for.

I wouldn't call it a bad penny... Maybe an impressive one.

That's pretty philosophical. I'm not sure if the distinction would work out for me... I guess it's worth a shot.

I...avoid them.

Not the most productive response. Though I can understand the impulse.

Yeah. Probably not the best advice.

I'll mark that down in the "don't" column.

Family always forgives.

Is that how it's supposed to work?

I think so. That's always how it's been.

I don't have a lot of experience with family. It's sort of a... recently acquired thing. So you'll have to fill me in.

Mmm, define 'mess up'... and 'family.'

They are what they sound like. No tricky metaphors here.

Well... children are different to siblings are different to parents. Aaaand, messing up is different to, oh I don't know.... murder seems to be a common one in this boat... stealing things, stealing girlfriends... accidentally on purpose killing their best friend...

There's a whole range out there.

Let's go with sibling, "major mess up" for 500.

And you don't have to be so discreet about your fishing. You're not going to get any more info that way, so have at.
