I always go home for lunch so I can let Periwinkel outside, & today as I was sitting out in the back yard playing with him, I started thinking about how odd it is that we have so many different names for him ( Read more... )

I've a kitty cat whose official name is Ekaterina, even though he is a boy. So, now he goes by one of these: Koozya, Korova, Koosha, Poozik, Poos'ka, Moos'ka and some other combination of words that have no meaning. :)

How strange is that? My kat just turned one today! His name is Frostbyte, but I call him...Queen kitty, prissy bitch, lil man, Frosty, Honey, Cutie...the list keeps going and going... =)

I think I have honed down each cat to only two names, a proper one and a common one.

1) Jemison - nickname: Jub-Jub
2) Celine - nickname: Leeny
3) Buzz - nickname: Boo-Boo

My friends that I housesit (dogsit) for when they are out of town have a little mop-dog named Sparky. I, of course, only refer to him by his drag name "Sparkle".

Ok.. how pathetic am I?

Jemison is a solid black female cat. She is named after Dr. Mae Jemison, the first woman of color in space.
