Guest viewer thingy- yay or nay?

What about this new thing where you can see who has visited your profile, but only if you let people know you've been knocking?

For or against?

I've seen this sort of thing on forums before... but things like Facebook prevent it, which I think is good.

What say you?

I occasionally look at my TrekBBS profile page to see who the last couple of people to look at my profile were. Especially if I've just had a blow-up with someone in, say, the Doctor Who forum. Oh, and then I have absolutely no idea who my "friends" on TrekBBS are.

In general, while I think it's a good idea for a forum to let the individual see who has been looking at their profile, I think that should be limited to the individual. I shouldn't be able to look at someone else's profile and see who was looking at that person.

The reason I like the idea I just mooted is that it gives a person an idea who's reading them. If there's a vaguely stalker-ish problem, a little knowledge can help to address it.

Also, I'm just paranoid. ;)

I can't recall those TrekBBS members at all...
Speaking of that site, I get a page visit for every 2 posts I've made. I wonder if that's good or bad.

I'm paranoid too.
I'm kinda leaning towards it, just out of curiosity- and the fact that if people don't want people knowing where they go, they *can* turn it off (even if it means they can't see who is visiting them...

Still, I wonder if we'd be surprised who visits?

I'd say you never forget your first comment, but I have no freakin' clue who posted the first comment on my blog way back in 2002. ;)

One profile visit for every two posts? That sounds... excessive. Do you have a fan club?

That's also true. It'd be kinda horrible if everyone knew who read everything. People don't have to be malicious for that to be true.
