OK. So I do have an ankle. But *something* is really hurting my right foot (still unidentified) and precluding the 7-10 hours of yoga, 3 hours of kettlebells, 0-6 hours of dancing, and other misc activities I do in a normal week ( Read more... )

are you getting enough iron? Could easily be a deep tissue bruise if you twisted it a bit or over-worked it. Not sure if your diet is affecting heal rates.

Btw, most of us who are active doing yoga/martial arts/etc deal with injuries and searching for ways to continue some of the exercise without aggravating the problem spot. I'll get problems that last a week and a half or longer (usually back or shoulder).

One other crazy idea is that you should check potassium intake. Too little can lead to cramps (which can eventually strain muscles and result in longer healing periods), if you are using bananas a lot in shakes you might be getting too -much- K, and I don't know what that does. Maybe we just pee it. dunno.

Barring renal failure, you pee out excess potassium (and my recent serum potassium was normal). The symptoms of potassium overdose are pretty noticeable though... your heart stops precipitously (again, in with a functioning kidney, never a problem from food sources). My potassium intake is through the roof (so deficiency is unlikely ( ... )

continue to do stretches that can be performed sitting down or prone, find ways to do upper-body and abdominal strength exercise from such a position, and do your best to stay off your feet (or at least that foot) when at all possible.
