Me, Ellen and Mark had our (what is becoming somewhat routine) pretend like we're gonna go out and then come home and talk for an hour about deep things again tonight. We talked about relationships and what make them real. Love is different things for different people, so it's very difficult to put any kind of parameters on it. You need what you ( Read more... )

well i know where you're coming from... seeing as my family has similar ideas about marriage and the like... but the way i see it, is if it is meant to be then things will work out (not to say that there won't be any obstacles or trouble in the way)... but if you do decide to marry outside your race, then he just has to be made aware that he may encounter problems... as long as he's willing to deal with that, and you are as well, then that's all that matters... after all, in the end.. you guys are the ones who are going to end up becoming a family and everyone else, while they are important, will have to come 2nd... so don't go searching for what you think your parents or family might want for you, because in the end, you are the one who is going to spend the rest of your life with them... :)

Oh, that's right. You actually think about things like that. I suppose it's because I've never wanted to marry that I've never thought about it much or how it'd effect my family. I would say don't worry about it and people will just have to deal with their own problems, but I know you, and you aren't me, and I know your family, and it's not like mine. I could conceivably cut off contact with my family if I found them too annoying, and seeing as it's much smaller, it would also be much easier to tell them all to shut up about anything they think. Of course my family isn't even black so...I really have no advice for you. I guess that also means there was no point in you reading this or in me writing it. Ah, well, it's time spent, anyway.
