[Ruca was walking near the beach for some time now, wondering if he should join the party or not as a sudden scream interrupted his thoughts. He looked towards the beach and saw sea serpents thrashing boats. Some people were trying to fight the raging creatures off ( ... )

[Unfortunately for Ruca, the serpents were getting closer. Even Genis could notice it as he ran towards Ruca. Oh man... they were gonna attack! Immediately swinging his kendama, Genis covers for him with a quick spell:] Force Field!

[Admittedly, the shield breaks right after the serpent hits, but it's good enough to protect Ruca in-between attacks. Genis frowns. How strong are these things?]

You okay?

[Ruca was fully concentrated on casting the spell, but he did noticed the monsters were going to attack. He was about to lose his focus to try to defend himself, but suddenly he heard Genis’ voice and a protective barrier appeared in front of him, shielding him from the serpent’s attack. That was close! As soon as the barrier broke, Ruca cast the spell ( ... )

[This wasn't good at all! Not even Mithos was capable of defeating these in a single stroke. If Genis weren't so busy trying to kill them, he'd be focused on making sure everyone got to safety. That was the important thing! Monsters first.]

Good. [Genis couldn't help cracking a smile as he glanced at Ruca. Nodding, he swung his kendama again while he stepped back from the serpents.]

So what can you do? Are you a magic-user or a melee fighter, typically? [Yeah, Ruca had gone through the trial - but Genis hadn't been the one to administer it. It was only understandable that Genis wasn't too well-versed. In-between words, however, Genis closed his eyes and started to concentrate on yet another spell. How many of these serpents were out there?]

A melee fighter actually... I only know few spell, mostly fire-based. [He answered, thinking if there was anything else he should say.] ...My sword is pretty heavy, so my attacks are not the fastest, but, I guess they’re pretty strong... I’m sure it won’t be enough against those things though... [...More strength? That shouldn’t be a problem.] But there is something I can do about it...

[The serpent was getting even closer now, preparing to attack.]

Sharpness! [He called casting the spell on himself, getting ready to counter-attack.]

It'll be enough to cover me. [Genis nodded in-between chants.] If I get hit, my spells get interrupted... and with these guys, it's pretty easy to not cast. You can do it!

Thunder Blade! [The spell finished, Genis triumphantly holds his kendama as the thunder blade hits the serpent. The creature looks mad, but the spell's strong enough to hold him off for a few more minutes.]

Right! [He nodded and as soon as Genis cast the spell he attacked the stunned monster slashing it few time with his sword.]

Take this! Devil’s Inferno!! [He cried as his sword entangled in flames pierced serpent’s scales, burning the skin beneath. The monster fell back and didn’t move. Was that hit too much for it? Ruca stared at the fallen creature surprised, holding his sword firmly just in case.]

Did it... work?

[True enough, the serpent is dead. Genis kneels down and picks off a few of its scales - hey, they come in handy for synthesizing! - without any problems. He nods as he looks back at Ruca.]

Deader than dead! You did a great job.

[He grins, giving Ruca a thumbs-up.] Be careful, though... it looks like we may still need to help other people out.

[Observation] May or may not join battle. ikillfurries June 30 2010, 02:56:21 UTC
[Up there on a convenient cliff, Rommy observes the battle below to see what the members of Ad Libitum were capable of while masking her presence rather then help them. From what she could see so far only the flying blondie and the silver hair child that was with Raine back then were worth any notice so far. However, she cannot say the rest were not a threat should she choose to go against them.

She focus her attention on Genis and Ruca, well more Ruca as she has already witness what Genis could do. She assessed his performance and battle and noted what weakness and strength he has shown so far. Though... perhaps it was a trick of the eyes but she could've sworn something was odd about his shadow before dismissing that notion or rather she tried to and just kept it in the back of her mind to think about later.]

[Not far from Rommy appeared another man, his mana circle appearing first, with his body appearing a second later in front of him. Clad in his black robe, the man's red eyes stared below at the carnage. Large serpents, fighting with so many of these so-called do-gooders, the same guild that worked against him when he sought to fuel Gilgulim's evolution into the one, eternal world. Familiar faces abound; he recognized Lloyd immediately, and Genis... and yes, there she was. Kannono. Though he was delighted to see the pink-haired girl, any form of reunion could wait. From atop his cliff, he stared downwards, watching the individual Ad Libitum members intently. Some were quite impressive in their display; two of them in particular might be able to match his own skill in magic. The others... much to be desired ( ... )

[Without turning her head, Rommy's eyes slid from the battle towards the other newcomer who also seem to have come to observe, assessing him. The horned man's appearance seem to suggest that he too came from another world. No he has to be, she concluded as she has yet to encounter other humanoid inhabitants that has a pair of horns on their heads. She would've thought he was an Ad Libitum member if it weren't for the fact that he had made no effort to the others below with their battles. A freelancer like her who hold no affiliations with any organization. Having deemed him as not a threat, Rommy proceeded to ignore him as and returned her attention to the battle below, after all discovering the weaknesses of the Ad Libitum members takes priority.]

[By now, Widdershin was keeping a total lock on Kannono, with the serpents mostly dead. His mana circle floated behind him, with the former Descender crossing his arms. The white gloves contrasted with the mostly black attire, his silver hair cascading behind him. For a second, he closed his eyes. He was growing impatient, as if he was waiting for something to happen. "These serpents are far too numerous and organized to be of the wild," Widdershin mused quietly, speaking to nobody in particular. Despite his seeming interest in the serpents, his gaze remained locked on Kannono. He was not going to come this far to see her be killed... not when she was his last connection to his previous life ( ... )

[Rommy flickered towards him and back as he mumbled to himself so... he had notice after all she thought, how interesting. However, just noticing something strange isn't enough to warrant her attention rather it had merely stirred her interest. She tensed slightly when the being beside her readied a spell circle, judging from the way how he kept staring intently at the pink hair sword wielding child, she could safely say that he was not about to attack her. Yet she still kept her guard up while seemingly remaining unaffected by his actions, best pretend that she was either an arrogant, overconfident person or ignorant fool who did not notice and keep the element of surprise.]

[He briefly turned to the girl next to him, who seemed to be tensing up. The floating circle behind him troubled her? Well... that wasn't too surprising. Nobody else seemed to have one of these, which, of course, was to his advantage. They were quite powerful objects.

The floating circle pulsed slightly, and soon after, Widdershin teleported away. This was shortly before the hydra appeared.]
