The dust cleared and her body lay still on the ground before him. She was still alive, but just barely. The beast must have wanted to savor the finishing blow, and he was powerless to stop it. He could only watch as he was used. The roles were switched and he was the puppet now. "No... I... won't let it... I won't let it... Not like this..."
"HMMM? IT'S POINTLESS TO RESIST, ZATO. I AM IN CONTROL." Eddie loomed over the blonde girl's broken body and formed a lance with its shadow. He pulled back, ready to thrust when--
"No."
"HNGH...!! WHAT... IS THIS?!" The parasite stopped in its tracks.
"You will not kill her..." Zato, using whatever strength he had left within him, stopped Eddie from dealing the killing blow and turned his lanced shadow towards his own body.
"WHAT... ARE YOU...!? FOOL... YOU'LL KILL US BOTH!" Eddie struggled to regain his control over his host, but it was futile.
"I fail to see the threat in that statement," Zato retorted, impaling the lance into his body's stomach, catching

And just as he's a blank canvas, and just as Axel's heart was once fire embodied, it's off of others' reactions that Axel thrives. Axel is fire, and fire is not self-sustaining; fire always needs something to burn, a supply of energy, an outside source. And this is what he hates most about himself: the fact that he -needs- others around him. He hates his dependency on the Organization, hates dependency on anything in general, but can't leave them completely, for there's no where else for him to go and no one he can depend on to be there so that he's not completely alone. He's only with them to get his heart back, and once he's self-sustaining again, he's long gone: and maybe gone before that, too, if he decides that he just can't "stand" it any more--or that maybe he's self-sustaining as he is

His entire time as a Nobody, he pretended emotions, subconsciously believing that if he could pretend hard enough, maybe he could feel; anything to feel "like he had a heart," including betraying the Organization, risking his chance to gain an actual heart for the self-induced illusions he was chasing after. He'd used everything he had (and everything several other people had, using them and burning through them wherever and whenever it suited his purposes) to maintain this illusion and in the end, that was what lead to his "death." And even after waking up again during the time before the Third Wave, it was his desire for his heart/his illusory heart that was the fuel for his ever burning internal fire.
Only, now, through the actions of those involved in the Second Wave, Axel's got his wish. A real heart in his chest--he can hear it beating--and real feelings in his heart, things he'd only dreamed of before. Character's personality: To be completely blunt, Cloud is the type of person to shy away from people and, instead of going to places like parties, would prefer to stay inside all day and do something more constructive than that.
He's very reserved, quiet and has a tendency to blend into crowds if he wanted to, or so he thinks. And even though it's a weird concept to grasp, he does talk once in a while... though it all depends on who you are. Even around close friends he might only say a few words now and then, but if you get him talking on something he's genuinely interested in, well, you might just come out with a full-blown conversation that lasts more than two minutes. If you're auspicious, that is.
Cloud's also very reticent and would be more optate to not tell anyone what's really on his mind nor

Character's history: It all started with Cloud wanting to be a SOLDIER, wanting to impress the people around him, and to be more than what people really thought he was: weak, shy and quiet. So he went off to become what he had so lovingly thought was the best option.
However, things turned for the worst after that.
Being rejected from his attempts at being one of SOLDIER, Cloud was placed at a rank that wasn't exactly favorable to him. But he was too ashamed to go back home, so of course he took whatever he could get. It wasn't exactly the best job ever, but if he went home defeated, well... that would just damage his already low self-esteem and make him feel even more worthless than before.
It was funny how everything seemed to piece together though. After that he met Zack, a First Class SOLDIER, who immediately seemed to take a liking to Cloud. While Cloud, at first, thought he was just making fun of him. It might've taken him a while to open up to the raven-haired one, but slowly, very slowly he started to open up again and was

Through his adventure he learned a lot about himself though. Sephiroth was indeed still "alive", he himself really wasn't the SOLDIER he claimed to be, and so, so very much more that shaped him into what he is today.
After such events Cloud humbled himself even more than before, clearly making it known that he was a sinner and didn't deserve the forgiveness he really, truly wanted. So, after that he had a goal to meet: to live alone and take along that burden that he somehow placed upon other people in the span of time that he wasn't himself. Cloud didn't think he deserved happiness after all that had happened. Zack died for him willingly, and then Aerith's death took a huge tole on him shortly after that.
But then a new enemy came about and Cloud had to come out of his shell, but even after that he still prefers being alone and somehow dwells on memories more than the present, which he isn't proud of but it's just who he is.

And it made him frustrated to a certain extent, these thoughts. His mind was a never-ending carousel, spinning and spinning while going absolutely nowhere in the meantime. It was just one, giant circle with Cloud, and he would be damned if people would be caught up in his own wallowing and deep thoughts that troubled him constantly. Thus why, even after having a conclusive ending to another chapter of his life, Cloud still distanced himself from others, but this time around made sure he answered his cellphone. It only made people more frustrated if he didn't after all.
Speaking of which, he hadn't checked it all morning, and he was sure people called him while he wandered off. Better to check now than later.
Cloud dug into his pocket and flipped out his phone, staring at the glowing screen before punching a few things in. Yep. Five new messages already. He didn't know why so many people called him, especially when he didn't like talking on the phone at all. Though it was a way for others to contact him and make sure he wasn't
