Sorry, couldn't disagree with you more. Obama will make an amazing President and I am thrilled that I helped him win, if even by a very small amount. I didn't vote for him because he's black. I voted for him because he was far and way the better candidate and because he and his fantastic organization caused this election to be a transformational event, like FDR winning in 1932.

Well, then I'm happy for you & I hope it proves to be everything you've got in your head that it will be. But come on. Obama is NOTHING like FDR. He was born privileged like him, true, but unless you want to say that being black is like having polio & ending up paralyzed/crippled, I don't see any similarities.

Oh yes, same here. But in a country where segregation was the order of the day not so long ago, and where I still remember black kids being bussed to my elementary school as the city (Rochester, NY, not even anywhere "important") tried to promote integration, there's no way to get away from the momentousness of this.
