I've only known this fandom for about a month. I'm currently reading the manga, and am about to start vol. 13 this week. Here's what I feel about this series so far...
Hee! Glad to know that you're really enjoying the series (although I guess it was obvious). XD I'm also a huge fan of Hatori, partly because of his character and partly because he's such an useful character in a fan fic ('cause he is in the know about events both inside and outside the Estate).
Ditto to all of your loves, especially re the bond between God and the animals and Shigure's more sinister side.
Why didn't Takaya-sensei make the juunishi sucessive years in age? I always assumed that each Zodiac animal member could only be born after its predecessor had died... and that the predecessors didn't all die at the same age.
I haven't read Akira. What's it about? D'ya recommend it?
As for Akira...It's really good, and pretty much a classic manga that everyone should be familiar with. It's shounen manga, so it's violent and not pretty, but I liked it. Basically it's about Tokyo, having been recently rebuilt from a WWIII nuclear bomb. The plot centers on these two guys in a street gang that become caught up in more apocalyptic events when the encounter these "kids" with superhuman powers. One is strong enough to destroy the world. Fast-paced, high stakes. I can't explain it so well, but it's well worth the read. Just imagine a shounen Fushigi Yuugi + government + lots of phychic ability-enhancing drugs. ^__^
*shifty eyes to DVD shelf* Ah! *slow nods as notices two copies of the anime Akira* I see. *palms face* Maybe this is a sign that I own/have-seen too many animes? I haven't read the manga though. Is it better than the anime?
