Can I take credit for being the first one to think of this or not?:

Piggy's glasses were a major symbol in The Lord of the Flies. What about Sawyer's? Is he Piggy? Will he be pushed off a cliff by Jack? (Actually, I think it was Roger, but...) ;p

Hahah. Oh, this reminds me of something I'd forgotten to tell the general public. A friend of mine gave up Lost for Lent. ^___^; (Well, all TV, actually, but she said Lost was at the core...hhahah)

But hell, I'd sacrifice Sayid for Sawyer so I guess we're even.

Never read Lord of the Flies. And yet I still somehow graduated high school. ;-)

I think the glasses thing is definitely a connection with Lord of the Flies, but that it's twisted somehow. Didn't Piggy lose his glasses? And Sawyer got new ones. So if it's flipped maybe Sawyer will push Jack off a cliff.

Or, you know, not.

Yup, he lost them and I think Jack crushed them. And they would always use them to start fires and stuff, which made Piggy uncomfortable. If Sawyer pushes Jack off a cliff I'm done w. this show.

I think the glasses symbolize Sawyer's changing nature. He's becoming more intelligent and less belligerent. It also puts touches of docility (is that a word?) in him. The expressions he made were so adorably self-conscious...an emotion he hasn't displayed as of yet.

i was thinking about lord of the flies too...esp since sawyer made the lord of the flies comment to jin a few episodes back...also, i think i just read a fanfic that referred to sawyer as piggy..???..

anyway, sawyer's my baby...i'll part with anyone before him, but i love sayid too...and boone for that matter *sigh*

i wish i could remember the details of lord of the flies - makes me want to dig up my old high school cliff notes!
