Fanfiction.net Issues?

I know that this is only indirectly related to Leon/Ada, but has anyone else had trouble with Fanfiction.net lately? I just tried to go there (headed to the Leon/Ada forum, which is why I ask here) and my computer went crazy; I quickly closed the page, and moments later, my anti-virus program had a fit and said my computer had been attacked ( Read more... )

When FFN directed me to one of those full-page ads on the site - the ones that you have to click "Skip Ad" to get away from - a program tried repeatedly to initiate. I'm using Vista, and it was one of those requests for permission to run a program. After two scans, my anti-virus program found four malware temp files and three processes that had tried to run while I was on the site. Fortunately, I've been able to clean it all off (at least, I think I have) - but I'm not feeling too great about trying to go back to FFN right now. :/ I know that this is a standard risk on any website with advertisements, but I'm really, really suspicious about those unavoidable full-screen monsters that FFN suddenly forces on you when you're innocently browsing a page ( ... )

I haven't had that sort of problem with ff.net but those adverts hijacking the page do irritate me because they disrupt the scrolling sidebar to the right of the screen.

There are no problems on the forum that I can see. Have you been able to make it on there again?

I haven't tried to go back yet. The virus wasn't gone (even though I thought it was), so I downloaded Malwarebytes and that managed to get rid of it. I haven't had any more problems since then. I also (finally) took a hint and have decided to stop using Internet Explorer...Maybe that will help. x.x I hope so.

Oooh, yes. Internet Explorer is HORRIBLE! Before I started using Firefox, I got countless viruses and such. It was perpetually glitchy and just... CRAPPY.

Speaking of ff.net, I need to get on there and check out what's going on. I've been so busy that I've been unable to bask in my fandoms. I miss Leon/Ada discussions.

Mmm! I switched to Firefox a few months ago and things have been better. The browser crashes sometimes but manages to right itself faster than IE did for me.

The forum is okay btw. Quiet, the last post was in July, but still up and running as normal :)
