Update after the special news update on Hungarian Channel 1 and news updates on [origo] and Index- Three casualties have been confirmed. There are more than 240 injured. Most injuries are head injuries from falling rooftiles, but some people have been hit by lightning

I wonder if the apocalyptic kind of feeling is not due to electromagnetic disturbances related to the storm fxoring with the brain. Persinger kind of stuff, though I have serious methodological issues with his work in particular... but you get the general idea.

Nah, prob'ly just plain old physics. (Alas, plain old physics is surprisingly tricky ;] )

Right now I'm completely inclined to side with a conventional explanation... which is pretty unconventional as it is - they are just beginning to explore these avenues of research. I read something interesting the other day, I'll send it over when I get back home.
