Wow, Adam. You pretty much summed up how I feel about believing in God, but not being Christian. Thanks. It was refreshing to read. I hope you are doing well!!
I think you hit the nail on the head, it's about YOUR relationship with God. It's in how you connect with Him, and how He can connect with you, that matters most. I personally think the important factor in this relationship, however, is that it's fostered. You have to be able to reach out to Him as often as you can, whether that's through sermons, gospel, reading scripture, prayer, or what have you, the important thing is to set time aside and connect with God. But naturally, that's only MY opinion, as a Christian (Catholic in denomination). I don't personally feel any ONE way of worship is wrong over the next. I only know what works for me. For some (like myself), finding a community of worhship is important, to others, it's not. And that's okay

Patti, I'm glad you've found your path. You seem to be better off for it in every way.
My biggest hangup is the whole thing about Man being imperfect and Man ALSO being the author of the Bible. For me it goes beyond just being 'nondenominational' because I have a serious mistrust of the Bible as well which I have come to see as the ultimate denomination of Christianity.
Like I said, I have this inkling that God exists, but I can't fathom anymore than that. In Christianity, we are told to see God in the world around us and in our personal lives, but that is so incredibly vague and subject to so much interpretation. What one Christian sees another may totally miss. So I just throw it all out and go with what feels right and what feels wrong in my heart.
And what has always felt wrong to me is having unquestionable faith in the Bible, which unfortunately is the entire basis of Christianity. Therefore, I cannot be a Christian.
It's a hard concept to overlook or to comepletely disregard. No one knows the truth, which leaves it as "faith". The best part of the entry is the end, in my opinion, "And I'm okay with that." That's the most important part.
