I don't remember any Colored Only drinking fountains in Seattle, do you?

Call me a bigot/racist/Nazi/whatever, but I think this is a complete waste of time and money. Specifically, my tax money. And that's even after I grudgingly gave credit to the people behind it for simply doing this out of the goodness of their wonderful hearts. Personally, I think it is a CLEAR ploy by entrenched Seattle and King County politicians ( Read more... )

I think if ANYONE'S face should be plastered around the county as representative of the area, it should be Chief Sealth. He had a heck of a lot more to do with here than MLK ever did.

So the ends justify the means, is that what you're saying? Yes, we get to have our own state now, but all of our central counties and old federal buildings are named after East Coast politicians from 150 years ago. Maybe not something to get all riled about, but certainly something to raise an eyebrow over. And definitely a historical comparison of worthy cause when noting the current issue being discussed ( ... )

Disdain and disgust aside, I would have assumed you'd be discussing a more important topic to the local community such as the viaduct problem. Given that that is a $1-4B issue and not a sub-$1M issue, which I'm sure is pissed away all the time without you even knowing about it ( ... )

Um, it worked the first time--Washington got to be separate from Idaho...so why not let the county be re-branded a second time? If only we could have gotten rid of Eastern Washington as well. Or pretty much anything east of Lake Washington.

I'm really not sure what's worse...the fact that they're going to spend half a million dollars on this, or the fact that it's the most important thing you can find this week to bitch about. Aren't there a few more local, national, and worldwide hot-button issues you should be focusing your energy on right now?

Ohh and I'm sure Israel has done something this week. I haven't checked but it's highly likely.

Hopefully they've killed some more Palestinian squatters. And with American-made bombs too. After all, they were there first.
