Lisa sighed and put her diary neatly on the pile of books and got up from the desk.
"What's this?" She asked herself, finally noticing the scrap of paper on the floor. With a yawn, she reached down and snatched it off the floor.
Lisa, this isn't working. Sorry.
She stood for a moment- a minute in silence, rereading the short phrase. Her feet brought her back to the desk, her hand wrote the barely legible reply, and her feet guided her back to the bed, all while her mind was somewhere else. Her body crawled under the covers, and her arm reached out to turn off the light. She cried, though, with only the bed curtains as witness.
