I personally think, as him going up into the music industry despite what all those religious groups might yell at him is a significant step enough by itself alone. He has participated in many gay rights promotions (i.e NOH8), and as a role-model himself that ANYONE can become what they want, not just 'normal' people, especially with the most common hate comment being 'faggot' - you have to admit, getting up there takes courage!
