I've read something
here, that made me see things clearly.
What so many Smallville viewers don't get is that Lionel and Lex are basically the same person. Two-faces, two-bodies in one character - from the killing of parents [Lex did that at 13, in comic canon], to the power and money, to the beautiful ruthlessness. Lex is half Lionel, and Lionel is half Lex. That is why I love them both.
That is why people who claim to love Lex but hate Lionel are basically not loving Lex, not the real one. Just a diluted version they like to think of as good and misguided, poor li'l woobie. Would you all love him in the future? Would you all love him when he's acting like Lex Luthor?
"At age thirteen, he arranged for his parents' death to gain the life-insurance money, and it was not long before he took over his first company. From there, he used his intellect to rise to ownership of many other companies and founded LexCorp International." \ "His intelligence led him to such a prominent position, and it allowed it to make the most of his power. Lex Luthor was clearly the richest man in Metropolis, and his scheming made him the most powerful--before Superman arrived."
Does anyone remember that Lex?
