Don't go for a degree, it's a waste of money if you're already in a good job and getting experience there. Instead, I would find certifications that match your job, and go for them. It's much more cost-effective, and looks good to employers. They're also easier to obtain and you can learn at your own pace, instead of dealing with weekly classes and homework.
The only rebuke I would have is that, as this is an ever-changing field, were I to lose my job, it may be markedly more difficult to obtain a new position with a new company were anything to happen. Not that I plan on staying in network engineering forever, but it's extremely stable for now.
I'm likewise happy for you, Erika. You're so hard on yourself, and I think you worry yourself into undermining your own happiness. Try hard to compromise when the communication is there; if it's not there, make it; if you can't make it, just be you, and make sure you're happy. You're such an awesome person, you deserve nothing less than sincere happiness.
