Ahh, I'm getting confused! How does Carolanne expect to get the money if Laura runs the business? Is that what we're supposed to be wondering? (Or should I go back and reread previous chapters?)

Confused! LOL See, this is what you get for letting a foreigner write that part... CA thinks if Laura still has the business she'll want to pay her and Bill to get out of her life... *sigh* And I liked rambly CA. (It was totally her being rambly and not me... well...) It's way in character for her to be crazeeeee.

That's right! That's why Laura and Bill had that public fight, I remember now. Not *real* bright of Carolanne, but in character. ;)

Aunt Katherine was actually a character in After the Thin Man, who did not approve of Nick Charles, although she found him useful when she needed a flatfoot. :D I think cantankerous old women are the same the fictitious world over!

Great update. So much action and intrigue going on. The convo with Aunt Katherine was fantastic, especially these lines:

"--Just like Grandpa Jasper who married that Irish maid. Blood will tell!"

The elderly woman paused to stare at Laura's red hair discontentedly.

And of course I'm dying to know what the old tartar has up her sleeve...
