Ungrateful

Dec 20, 2004 01:08

I have never felt more compelled to write in my life. It is a little after one in the morning and I have just finished watching a film by James Moll called Price for Peace. It is a documentary about World War II and the D-Days of the Pacific Theater. As I watched interviews, old movie footage, and pictures flash across my computer screen, I couldn' ( Read more... )

hey man, thanks for that heartfelt post, i know it can take a lot out of you to write that kinda stuff, i appreciate it. Thanks for sharing. I lost my grandfather - WWII vet - less than a year ago. He was 83. He was the most amazing God-fearing and selfless man i have ever met. If you need someone to talk to, we should meet up. I know what the fear of - and losing someone you are close to is like.

I'm glad you realize how important it is. It makes me sick when people bash George Bush and don't support the military. My Great Grandfather was in world war two. he is awesome. a man of few words, very wise. i wish i knew him better but we live in seperate states now. i think we can learn so much from older people.

Ryan Adams! This is Greg. How the heck are ya? I want to see you over Christmas break, since I haven't seen you in forever!
Dude, I totally agree with you about the WW veterans. We have already lost a lot of our WW-I veterans, which is a big part of history. It is great to hear their stories. Soon most of the WW-II veterans will be gone also. It is so sad to lose such a great part of our country... the people who basically built the US to the greatness it is now. I just love to sit around and listen to my grandpa's stories. All three of mine were in the service. It is great to hear them open up and talk about all the great things they did. They are great men, and we should respect them more.

wise words ryan. Thanks for posting and reminding us all.
we really are an ungrateful generation. I was on a flight
over thanksgiving with some men who were headed back to Iraq
after coming back home for a short time. It made me cry to listen
to their stories of war, and the reality of it all. You hear so
much on the news and we become so immune to it all. But seeing
those men sitting beside me made it all very real. Seeing them how
they were so grateful for everything. And the fear in their eyes of
going back... not knowing what the future had in store for them. But
their love for us- being the reason that they were going back. Wow they
really are my hero's. It really made me respect those men.
And made me even more compelled to pray for their families- i can't
even imagine having my dad or brothers over there.
