Why does everyone in Albany seem to think we had a bad time? I mean Denny's was kinda ehhh but everything else was cool. We all hung out, played DDR...I'm not really sure how anything could have been different

What you saw is not the general mood of the Albany DDR players. We, as a whole, are about 600 times happier people than what you saw Saturday. You saw depressed and angry DDR players, and that is honestly one of the single worst days I have seen in Crossgates myself since I've been here (September onward).
Which means that most of us wish we could have been better hosts. Glad to know that you did, for the most part, enjoy yourselves anyway.
And Denny's...afterwards (and during, for those of us who were thinking straight), that was straight AAYYYASS!
