Sometimes I feel like anything and everything I include here should be somehow profound.  But it's not.  It just IS.  Kinda like a lot of things in life.  But now that's just too intellectual for this early in the morning ( Read more... )

For Christmas decorations try second hand stores or dollar stores for cheap decorations. For a tree try looking in the want ads for someone selling a fake one. Possibly the 5 or 6 foot ones since they are smaller and cheaper but still big enough to make it feel like a tree and not an ordament, if you know what I am saying. We had a lot of the same concerns with our first Christmas so I know where you are coming from. Also another tip is to set the 5-6 foot tree on a table. Coffee table or what not in the corner. Makes it seems taller and frees up room. That is if you have a small apartment and that is a concern as well. Or even make some of your own ordaments for the tree. Plus that small of a tree doesn't take much to decorate. Especially if it is against a wall for less sides. Think outside of the box to something more creative to make the holiday on your own. Hell get paper and pipecleaners, glitter and whatever else you can find at a dollar store and throw a party with all your friends to make ordaments. Then decorate it with ( ... )

Thanks for the tips. A lady at work is giving me her old tree for free (she recently got a smaller one for herself since she's getting older) and I definately planned to hit up the discount stores and dollar store for decorations. Also thought about going to Hobby Lobby and getting a big bag of pine cones and decorating the tips with glitter. Max says now that we can spare a bit of money to get some stuff for it so I'm really excited now.

Sounds like things are going good. For the pine cones white paint is great for the tips. It holds the glitter and looks like snow. Makes it look more clean rather than regular glue. Hope you get a lot of deals on your shopping spree.
