Anjelica, 25, South Korea.  This is day day two!  Sunday, August 4th.  Visiting Haesindang Park (affectionately known as Penis Park) and then attempting to get back home to Jeonju.  This post contains pictures of carved penises and vaginas!   It is not pornographic in nature, it is not meant to be kinky, it is a family park.  However, you ( Read more... )

Aw I loved this. I have been living in Seoul for the past 2 years and last Buddha's Birthday I went to Haesindang Park, it's such a trip. It's cool to see places I've been on adiml. I'm not so active anymore here but if you're ever in Seoul and need a tour guide. :) ^^

That's when I tried to go, on Buddha's birthday! But it took us 8 hours to get from Seoul to Samcheok! And when we got there, there were no available motels. So we just went back to Seoul.

I'm gonna be in Seoul on the 17th and 18th actually to tour the DMZ! What do you recommend also checking out? I basically stick to Dongdaemun, Myeongdong, and Itaewon. I'm sure Shane would love to meet up with some other foreigners for a chat over dinner or something :)

Yeah it was awful. We took the first bus out of Seoul around 7am and got there at 1. Took the last bus home and got back around midnight. The park was cool, but the trip was definitely a hassle. I'm not sure what you've seen in Seoul, but as far as cool sites, the Namsan Tower is pretty cool. They have a couple museums there but most people go there because it's such a great 360 degree view of Seoul.

If you like nightlife, Hongdae is pretty ridiculous and worth checking out. I live close-ish to Itaewon in Haebangchon, which is a pretty decent expat area, there's a lot of interesting international food and it's a really good vibe.

Yeah anytime you are up here just let me know, or send me a kakao or something, my username is lwatkins87. It's also good to meet new people here.

Wow, such a cool park! Shame the public transport on the way home was so bad/had such a long waiting period...

This park has been in my list of to-go places if I ever make it to S.Korea to travel. My S.Korean students have never mentioned this park though when they recommend places to travel to in S.Korea. It's usually Jeju Island or the cities (Seoul, Busan). Maybe it's because I live in a Muslim-majority country (I'm firmly a lifelong atheist though which isn't really recognized here lol) so they're apprehensive of offending? haha
