Dearest Wednesday,

Your absence has caused life to return to its mundane twaddle. The other students become more loathsome by the minute. I shall make my way to the Manor post-haste, not only to reunite with my only equal, but also to help deal with your exorcist. I look forward to seeing your smiling pallid face again.

Six's missive, folded neatly and tucked into one of the drawers of Wednesday's dressing table, brought Wednesday (and Hyde) down to Gate in order to wait for his arrival.

6 ambled towards Efferton, keeping his glee neatly tucked behind a scowl. As he neared the gate, he began to fight a losing battle with a smile. There she was, in all her malcontent glory. He was going to have to keep certain... inclinations in check, at least until their work was complete.

Wednesday nodded gravely to him as Gate swung open. Holding Hyde's basket (which he was rapidly out-growing) in one hand, she came to meet him.

He quickened his pace to meet her and take her hands in his own. "Wednesday. I have missed you."

Presents are always a good way to a girl's heart and Wednesday was no exception, in her own slightly off-kilter way. "For me?" She tilted her head. "Does it explode?"

"Not quite." He pulled the velvet box from the inside of his jacket and opened it, revealing a rather stark looking red pendant.

One eyebrow went up as Wednesday examined the pendant. There was the distinct feeling that a small adding machine somewhere inside her head was calculating the exact proportion of thought and effort that had gone into the choice of the gift, subtracting the actual cost and multiplying the total by both the timing and the perceived sincerity of the gesture.

After a moment, a very faint smile curved her lips, and she stepped forward and rose again on her toes to kiss him very gently on the cheek. "It's perfect."

"It's a heart monitor." He shifts his gaze about. "They are everywhere, and I will not take any risks with your life. If your heart reaches dangerous levels or stops, I shall know."

Wednesday Addams could radiate satisfaction without changing her expression an iota, and demonstrated this ability to its full effect at that moment. "We will take the entrance directly to the crypt, I think. Far less time wasted that way."

"Agreed." 6 didn't actually agree, but Efferton's layout still confused him all to hell, so he simply followed.

The tunnel opening was right beside the graveyard entrance, concealed behind a set of threadbare bushes and Wednesday swung the creaky metal grate open easily, despite the screeching sound. Releasing 6's arm, she swung easily into the low tunnel, maneuvering easily among the jumbled rocks at the mouth and disappearing into the darkness.

Scowling, 6 clambered down after his special lady-friend, maneuvering past the rocks with the grace of a dying emu.
