I still don't quite understand the 'monster' aspect of this city. Where did it come from? Why doesn't anyone stop it?

I'm afraid both the monster and our isolation are quite real. No one's found a way off the island that doesn't involve a 100% fatality rate, and so far, no one from the mainland's come for us.

As for Big Mommy...if you haven't gotten an in-person look at what she's about, consider yourself lucky, and hope it stays that way.

No one knows where the monster came from, and unfortunately there's no way off this island, as far as I've seen. I checked out all of the bridges and tunnels personally. Some people have suggested boats and rafts, but we often see Cloverfield swimming in the water around the island, which I believe has prevented anyone from trying their chances yet.

Are you able to monitor its damage tenedency enough to make guesses at where it prefers to destroy things?......I assume it does so unprovoked.....

It's one of the names people around here call it. I wouldn't advise trying to witness it personally. If you see or hear it coming, hide if you can. Otherwise, run.

The monster seems to have the full run of the island, and it swims the waters too, as I mentioned. We also think it disappears underground fairly often. Central Park seems to be its nesting place--I'd stay out of there as well. And yes, it does sometimes attack us unprovoked--or at least seemingly unprovoked.

How strange. I am not unfamiliar with unprovoked attacks by humans but it would seem most animals usually need a reason....then again, you've already said it is unusual.
