Joining the Angry Bandwagon

After visiting several people's LJ's (Briana's seems to have the most extensive coverage - you're awesome, Briana!), it is clear that today's posts are focused on The Day of Silence and the events regarding GLBT students and the Slavic Christian Club and their allies. I didn't get a chance to see those pamphlets. I wish I had, though. They sound amusing.

But what upsets me a lot is that... while people may scoff and find it ridiculous, these people... are serious. It frightens me, really, that they can justify their hate and pass it on to their children. I'd like to think we're open-minded enough to counter some of that, but... sometimes I just don't know.

No problem! The pictures really do say a thousand angry, expletive words.

Yeah, that's the part where I lose faith in humanity. But then it's people like you and the majority of the sane Mira Lomans who restore it.

My reaction to the pamphlets was pretty much two-fold: on the one hand, I was outraged by the sheer stupidity of the content and on the other hand, I was amused by the sheer stupidity of the content. I'm sure there's a black market for them by now, so you can probably get your hands on one tomorrow. I doubt the administration's confiscated all of them.

I'm really disappointed with how the Slavic Christian Club reacted as well. I mean, I'm not offended by them having huge, obnoxiously loud pray sessions in the quad (though they haven't done that recently), but verbally attacking another club on campus is just out of line.
