cirque du ciel - step by step
Well, I might as well use this journal for something useful as long as I'm gonna be here. D: I figure I might as well give you a step-by-step guide on how I did my last pic (which you can view on dA here.) 8D So...yeah. Beware, for there are large images ahead D: (I don't know how to do a fake-cut, or if that's even possible on my own journal. >_>)
1. So! Naturally, I start out with my epic fail sketch. I really means nothing. If I could draw the human figure without having to remind myself of the basic structure, believe me, I would. D: It would save me so much time.
2. This part makes me self-conscious. I've already drawn the structure; why do I have to go back and draw it again? Because I don't remember where everything else goes in accordance with the basic skeleton, that's why. D: Fail. Yet again.
3. As you can see, this part takes the longest. Trying to build something from nothing but what's going on in my brain never works out unless I go back over it 10 million times. Sebs still doesn't have a face. Why? because I don't need him looking at me with that damn smirk whenever I screw up, that's why. D< /weird.
4. Finally, the lines are done. D: Most of what took so long was all that freakin' detail. I must be a masochist or something. =_= All those frills and beads...goddamn it, Ciel. (No Sebs, you still don't get a face. D<)
5. Color tiem! Nothing but the fill bucket for me, thank you. And here's your face, Sebs. Sorry about that. >_>
6. Okay, normally I do shadows and light simultaneously, but not everyone does it that way. Plus, this is what it looks like with only shadows. It's very dark. D:
7. And Maddie said...LET THERE BE LIGHT! Supposedly, the light source is behind them. I hope I did okay on that. D:
8. I usually make the foreground invisible when I do the background. Plus, it looks better without the foreground over it; you can actually tell it's flowers lol.
9. AND VOILA! I brought it into Photoshop CS3 to adjust the light and the colors and add text, but the majority was done in Paint Tool SAI, which I HIGHLY recommend. :3
