This broke my heart and i keep blinking so i don't cry. I don't like the ending with Gwen that makes Merlin AND the neckerchief vanish. Then again, i've had anti-Gwen and anti-letting-go feelings since i can remember. But everything else was very well-written and lovely.

This was so cute. (maybe not what you were going for, xD)
I can't help but be sad for Arthur, and think that maybe he sort of does realise that Merlin is still there, that's why he's always talking to him. I still want to shake Merlin though for not using his magic to block the bolt.

I don't know. I think it just makes him feel better to talk to Merlin. He doesn't want to let go.
Yes, but if he'd done that, I wouldn't have been able to write this. The entire idea was based on him dying. Plus, he wasn't thinking - he just wanted to save Arthur, and did what anyone would do, which is throw himself in the line of fire.
