Because a server/workstation combination doesn't work out that well ('unscheduled downtimes' etcetera) I decided to give the old metal box which sat workless at my mums' a 3rd life. Transferring it by train was some heavy weight lifting, but now the thingie runs nice and quiet in my 'datacenter':

i am as well bothering my notebook today the whole day long.
i have my old one back (yeah) and try to optimize a few things, means: i end up in a chaos like always. will be a long night....tonight...

If you wanna optimize you ol' punk-ass notebook: switch to Linux. I mean it. :) Take a free click and run distro like Fedora or Ubuntu. Your notebook will run like a charm and you can tweak that to the underling machine code, if you feel the need. :P Windows: Untweakable.
I have some Fedora Core 6 cdroms laying around, I can send you those, to give it a try.

Anyway, it's 'harde woei' (windy) here just a few miles from the westcoast. The year is nearly done. Tomorrow I'll be off to mums. Happy new year to you to, hope it'll be a 'happy' one.

I like tiny bites indeed, but just don't decapitate me. :)
