I had been craving bleu cheese (I think I wanted something with a pungent taste) and bleu cheese doesn't particularly go well with fruit.

I have to disagree. Bleu cheese is amazing with apples. also with raspberries.

hmm...I can see it with apples. However, I had it with peaches and that wasn't as good as I would have liked. It was okay with strawberries, but not great.

I don't eat apples very often because I'm very particular about my apples. I was spoiled on Washington apples and they just aren't as good over here.
