And now the proper, full-episode reaction for this week's wonderful hour of
Hawaii Five-0, 1x23: Ua Hiki Mai Kapalena Pau
a.k.a. The One With the Danny Love-Fest
Do not expect to find anything insightful about the case in this entire post, lol.
To start with, here are just a couple of notes I took whilst watching, before I decided I would rather focus my whole attention to the screen:
• lol those crazy jumps
• Okay, I love Jenna.
• OMG STEVE.
• STEVE'S CRAZY EYES AND PANIC-FACE
• Oh my gods, I might possibly be okay with Steve/Jenna because the REASON he even gives her the time of day is that she "saved Danny's life"
• "UNCLE STEVE." lmfao, I still can't believe that's legitimate canon. So much validation for our delusional fantasies expert prophecies.
• It makes me cry, how much I don't want Rachel to die. That scene had a very ~goodbyey vibe, if you ask me. :(
• Steve says "sidebar"! What a dork.
Not noted, but things I was thinking the whole time: 'omg I love Steve', 'ASHDGAKJL; DANNY!!', 'I don't think you understand, I fucking love Danny Williams!', and 'Jenna is adorable, she can stay'.
Out of context, "we need to find out where he bought that milk" is the most hilarious line ever in Steve's srs bsns tone. XD
Ugh, Sang-Min is such a bitch. HIS HAIR. LOL FOREVER. I literally can not stop laughing whenever he's on screen. That guy is a TERRIBLE actor and it's fucking hilarious.
But good gods, the way Steve talks about Danny. I... just... yeah: ♥♥♥ Whether you see it as friendship or the way I see it, there is just so much love in his every word! I can't get over that. It's like a punch in the gut, every time.
Also, at the very start of the episode when Steve's telling Jenna he's side-lining her because she is "not getting hurt on [his] watch," for me it was one of those things where, you know, 'LOL STEVE YOU ARE SO ALPHA AND IT'S A BEAUTIFUL THING SOMETIMES,' and then because we know what's coming 'OH MY POOR BABY'.
And yes, all of my feeeeeliiings on this show happen in capslock. dealwithit.gif :D
GRACIE DREW DANNY WITH HIS TIE. lmfao. That kid is so cute. This whole SCENE is epic cuteness, from Steve walking in whispering 'cause Danny's asleep (SERIOUSLY, STEVEN, BE MORE STUPIDLY ADORABLE) to the little "what's a hangover?" conversation and then the thanks and the "looking so, so good" and Steve being SUCH a good boyfriend caring for his would-be step-kid (I'M SORRY BUT HE TOTALLY WAS) to that last "you okay?" and I just quoted the entire scene at you and I DON'T EVEN CARE, IT WAS SO CUTE.
And lol forever I just love Scott Caan SO MUCH, the way Danny was gesturing specifically for Gracie not to tell Rachel he was in the hospital and then his reaction when she did just that: priceless. Everything. I LOVE HIM.
By the by, confession time: I love Rachel. (Below, my haterz gon' be hatin' gif of choice.)
I think she is fierce, and awesome, and clearly there's unfinished business with her and Danny, and good on her for dumping Stan! I am gonna be SO HEARTBROKEN, mostly on Danny's behalf I'm not gonna lie, if she's the 'major character' dying in the finale. D:
Okay okay, while I'm on a controversial streak: Jenna Kaye! Like I mentioned above, I like her a lot so far. Plus what I mentioned yesterday, if she's at HQ doing intel-gathering and the such, that gives Chin and Kono more leeway to run around catching bad guys and all-around BAMF-ing it up! I 100% approve.
Back to the federating trivial: is it me or does Steve get sassier and sassier by the episode? Don't get me wrong, I love it. The ~deal~ he offered Sang-Min at the beginning had me laughing way more than it should've. XD

The magic table computer is so fucking awesome, and also, I NEEEEEED KONO/JENNA BFF-SHIP! Need it! Like air!
Oh, a car chase. Damn, that'll be two cargument-free episodes now, which is so not okay. :( But anyway I kept thinking, Steve is driving Danny's Camaro without him. For all intents and purposes, it really is THEIR car now, as opposed to his. ♥
But just look at Danny and Rachel in the hospital, look at them, so freaking precious! I just want Danny happy, you know? I mean, WHO COULD RESIST HURT DANNY? Would you? Be honest now... That's what I thought. [/Rachel Appreciation Blog]
I am relieved that Chin's storyline isn't dragging, that bookie-debt thing could have become boring/ugly real fast. Also Kono is the best cousin ever. Fact. But talking of this scene, I actually really liked that Jenna wasn't shoe-horned in there as if she were supposed to give a fuck. She seems like a caring person all right but she doesn't know Chin's life. Good on show for keeping her out of this! I may want her in 5-0, but she hasn't quite achieved ohana status for me yet.
Epic lols at Chin and Steve not thinking of the secretary on their own. THIS IS WHY THEY NEED DANNY, GUYS.
Speaking of whom -- and this scene is a lot more fun with my tinfoil-hat on, so hang on a sec... OKAY. Steve walks in to find Rachel in Danny's bed, and Danny has this only-slightly embarrassed look on his face. Steve's face, on the other hand, seems very much the picture "o i c" with a side order of heartache (NO REALLY. GET YOUR GOGGLES AND YOU'LL SEE IT TOO!) but then, because Danny is so godsdamn adorable with the hand gestures again (Steve loves those, obviously) he quickly switches it up for "lol r u srs right now?" and "ilu kbye" before brb-ing the fuck outta there. No really, he's fine, there's just something in his eye. Really. (The epic sadface after a beautiful timelapse tells me so.) [/tin-foil hat mode]
HAVE I MENTIONED LATELY HOW MUCH I LOVE DANNY? Also Scott looks like he gives the best hugs ever, omg. It was like a fucking dance. It breaks my heart a little to see Danny SO HAPPY with Rachel while these season finale spoilers are hanging over our heads. Anyway anyway, major highlight of this scene: DAT ASS. Holy sweet Mother of all! But yeah, I can't shake the feeling, in fact I kept thinking as she drove away, oh shit this is the last time they'll ever see each other and it made my heart so grateful when he turned around one last time. And the smiiiiiiiiiiiile. Brb dying.
"A hug will do!" WHY SO ADORABLE, JENNA KAYE? rofl, everything in this scene is epic amounts of preciousness. And Kono is such a troll, lmao. "Who's this? Did we know you?" GROUP HUG!
And Steve's sidebar. (lmao I will not get over this and idek know why!) Anyway it was the bestest sidebar ever. LMAO HE IS SUCH THE JEALOUS BOYFRAN IN THIS SCEEEENE. "Were you ever gonna tell me?" Now it's me who can't breathe, holy shit. WE GOT VERY CLOSE, they say. I BET YOU DID. And that hug was so HAPPYYYY and things. I mean, just look at their giant smiles again. Now, I feel like I haven't used the words "cute," "adorable," or "precious" nearly enough in this entry yet, so for good measure, here's some more accurate descriptors for this moment: TOTALLY FUCKING CUTE, TOTALLY FUCKING ADORABLE, TOTALLY FUCKING PRECIOUS, TOTALLY FUCKING. :D
