Right. You've convinced me. I shall add Elizabeth Wein to the post-dissertation To Be Read list.

Although, I have run across some good Arthurian fiction, even if I became disenchanted with The Mists of Avalon fairly early on. I appreciate what Bradley was trying to do, but it felt like everyone was shortchanged to make Morgaine better.

Have you ever read Helen Hollick's trilogy? The first book is The Kingmaking, and it's very good. I'd lend you my copy, except that it vanished around the time I finished undergrad and I haven't seen it since.

It's worth it. Let me know if you have problems locating the oop books, though I doubt you will (I think both Amazon and BN have vendors with used copies).

I read all the way through TMoA, but man I hated almost all the characters by the end. (Oddly, I think, this is why I prefer Lady of Avalon. I don't despise the characters.)

Have not heard of her, but I'll look. :)
