How, oh how, have I passed almost 27 years (yes, I know I'm a baby) and not truly learned to appreciate Leonard Cohen until Saturday night, I shall never know. That mistake, however, has been corrected ( Read more... )

I'm sorry you couldn't be there. According to his website, he's starting (yet another) European leg of the tour in July. Maybe look into that?

I suspect I will just miss him, unfortunately, but it's okay. I really enjoyed your account of it -- good to have friends through whom I can live vicariously here and there. ;)

I've been meaning to check out some of Cohen's stuff. I've seen a couple of his performances on YouTube, and my reaction was mostly that he was an amazing songwriter but not much of a singer... but then, that's what most people say about Bob Dylan, and I love Bob Dylan, so I suspect I might feel the same way about Cohen if I listened to him a bit more.

Sounds like he's definitely someone I should look into. Good to know! :)

Oh, definitely. Though I have to say I prefer the "Live in London" versions of the songs he played (which were mostly the ones he did in Boston, too) to the ones on the CDs. I went back to listen to the CD versions, and his voice has changed so much over the decades. Plus the 9 piece band he's got touring with him is amazing, and he takes every opportunity during the concert to showcase them, too. A class act. :)

So glad you went. When I saw him a few weeks ago, it was a breathtaking experience.
