today was a good day. ill just start with that. tolerable ride, even though we spent an hour looking for an exit that didnt exist. the talking was boring, but informative. i had the opportunity to talk to a really nice guy doing an IST major. hes graduating in december, so ill get to see him for a bit next year. he invited me to his 3.30 class, and we had lunch together before he showed me his apartment. THE apartments, really. theyre cozy. later when we actually went with the tour guide, i heard someone saying something about how the rooms were small, but honestly, its a room ytou dont have to share, and how much space do you need? bed, wardrobe, desk. you shouldnt be bringing that much crap with you, anyway. not to mention that its unlikely youll spend much time in your room. theres the living room, else lots of common areas around campus to get together with people. oh, but yea. so i sat through part of his class IST411, Distribut-e/-ion computing. there was java and stuff. hedidnt actually get any work done til after i left cause i was bugging him. there were only about 8 people in that class, so i had a chance to talk to the professor. he seemed pretty cool. he was sorry i couldnt stay for the whole class, but understood that we we didnt want to hit traffic. the guy that invited me to class made me promise to call. or at the very least, email him. i will later.
and i dunno. mum liked the campus. she thought everything about it was quaint. and i, myself, damn near had a joygasm when touring the library and compuetr labs, which i hadnt seen before. its large. there were a LOT of books. like enough to keep me busy for way more than 4 years should i choose not to ever leave my room. a good amount of the campus is set up for wireless access, and even if it werent, there are just SO many places you can connect your laptop to. so speaking of internet access, they have t-3. which i thought was cool. cause its not t-1 :P
i also found out something i didnt know before, and that is the fact that this is only the second year theyre allowing first year students at the school. apparently, you had to have at least 60 credits before you would even be conSIDERED. so there are currently 150 freshman and 200 incoming. itll be interesting to say the least.
and they have an indoor pool, which i also didnt know about. and THATS nice because i like being in the water. and maybe i can learn to swim PROPERLY. but if not, itll still be greatness. *splashes* i dunno. it really WAS an informative day. and im glad to have an actual person telling me where everything is, rather than 'this is where my class is.' silly. whatever. i lost my train of thought. lucky for you.
