I did the same thing just recently... they're both fantastic (if you like that sort of thing, and it appears that you do!) - I thought Mother Tongue was more of a grander study than Made In America (which often felt just like a mash-up of little vignettes.
Anyway, you'll love 'em! Bill Bryson rocks. I also recommend A Short History of Nearly Everything, if you haven't read that one yet. Some of it is overly simplified, but it stays interesting throughout and Bryson can make anything readable.
P.S. Um, I don't think I ever properly congratulated you and yer man. Because I'm a big jerk. CONGRATULATIONS, and best wishes, now and always.
I already do love them! But he comes highly recommended already. The father-in-law has A Short History, and I bought The Lost Continent for my Dad for Christmas.
Speaking of presents, you should have gotten something from me from your wedding registry...did you? (I hate asking but I'm just worried that it got lost or something).
Anansi Boys is wonderful! I need to get the audio book since it's read by Mr Lenworth Henry which means it can only be brilliant (I lurve him so!).
Yes, I did! Something silver, and somethings blue. (Just like our wedding colors.)
Anansi Boys was the first book I unwrapped this Christmas, and I was so excited... and then I got the Bryson books. So Neil will have to wait for a bit.
