Pretty much! It also lets Moffat neatly cover up his dei ex machina -- you don't wonder how exactly the pirates got control of the ship because you're too busy going THE PIRATES CAME BACK :DDD

Ha, as to fanfic, roomie and I were arguing in the car yesterday: I said I love "The Satan Pit" and "The Impossible Planet" because the ensemble is so distinctive, and she said she rarely cares about the ensemble. But this ep did what the best Who eps do. It quickly and effectively gave me enough information to make me care about the Doctor's whole party, to make me want to know more about each individual, and to leave Moffat space to revisit them in future eps. Win-win-win!

To sum up: Definitely considering putting Lorna in m_m. >.>
