I have the day off! I am spending it hanging out in a Girdwood coffee shop, because Mom has a conference thing up at the hotel and I figured I might be more productive if I left the house for once.

This is my bible for plotting out long stories, which usually really helps with getting me to ask the right questions. There's also the Snowflake Method, if that would work better!

I'm also of the belief that really, what you need to for NaNo is a handful of characters that you love, a few climactic encounters, scenes and relationships to build up to, and a world you dig, and everything else is connective tissue and exploring. You can do it!

I'm of limited use, having never done NaNo and having no immediate intention to. (Not this year, for sure. *eyes November*) So I have very little idea what their actual requirements are.

That said, I'm a big fan of using NaNoWriMo's collective momentum-and-community to spur yourself to creative achievement, in whatever form works for you. (See also PicoWriMo, and Drabblevember, and all the other spin-off self-challenges.) If something doesn't technically fit the letter of the challenge, to my mind, it still fits a lot of the spirit.
