So.... I've been meaning to post this for a while, now that it seems that I have some time... here we go.

Title: Crestfall High. (1/6)
Fandom: rps
Author: Adja999
Pairing/Character: Jared, Jensen, other fictional characters.
Word Count: 9,866 (total)
Rating: PG
Summary: AU! Jared moves in a new school. Remember High school? The time when you’re figuring out who you are?
Disclaimer: I don’t own them. Hell, they do belong to themselves (and possibly each other), but oh yeah, they do own me.

Jared sighs and turns around another corner. This new high school as a great sports complex, but this gym is actually a maze. He thought he had memorized the way from outside to the locker rooms but apparently he was wrong. “Dammit.” He huffs and whips around again, nearly bumping into a guy. “Oh, sorry!” He backs off.

The guys just smiles at him. “So… you’re the new guy, uh?”

Jared’s eye widen. “How…? Uh…”

“You look kind of lost.” He offers a hand. “M’Jensen.”

“Jared.” He says, shaking. “And yeah, I’m the new guy. I guess there aren’t many people transferring after the beginning of senior year, uh?” He follows Jensen and finally finds his way to the main doors.

“Nope.” He pauses. “So, what position are you trying out for?”

“Quarterback.”

Jensen grins. “Figures.” At Jared’s confused looks he adds. “Your shoulder scream football, man.”

“Oh. Okay.”

“Good luck.” Jensen is obviously not trying out. He’s sporting a team uniform already and is jogging back inside. Long and loose t shirt, large shorts. Basketball, maybe?

“Thanks.” Jared murmurs to himself, the guy’s already out of earshot anyway. He turns around and jogs to the stacks.

“Good job Padalecki!” His new teammate, Greg, punches him on the shoulder as he runs past him.

So, Jared got in. He’s not sure how he feels about that, though. He does love football, but it’s always been about having fun and friends. He didn’t think he would come to face hostility. Not every guy in the team is as supporting as Greg or the coach. Jared just arriving, he feels like crashing a party, a group of friends playing together. He’s swooped up and landed the position some of them might have wanted instead of him. Although it’s not his fault, he feels reluctant to impose himself on the rest of them.

He ends up lagging behind, dragging his feet pensively. This time, he makes sure he knows where he’s going. He slows down, let’s a bunch of basketball players pass him as they get out from their training room. They’re all laughing, making jokes and about Jared’s height. See, mom? They do make other models in this size.

He peeks inside to see if Jensen’s there but he doesn’t seem him. He shrugs and keeps walking. Then, just before he gets to the locker room, he hears a voice. “Let go! Asshole.” It’s a grunt, but Jared’s pretty sure it’s Jensen. Is he in trouble? There’s many other rooms after but he finds them quickly.

Jensen’s wrestling with a guy. “What’s the matter Jenny? Afraid of a little competition?”

Jensen pushes the guy off and grins, apparently there’s no hostility going on here, just goofing around. “Fuck off, Steve.” He says, and the group chuckles.

Jared is about to shrug himself off the doorframe when he hears hands clapping. “Come on guys, one more time if you’re done being idiots.”

“Alright alright.” The bunch of boys gathered around and faced a bunch of girls with matching uniforms.

2 + 2 =…

Cheerleading! This is a cheerleading practice.

“Hey girls!!” The guys yelled.

Jared leans back, grinning. It’s been a while since last saw a routine. “Say what?”

“Hey girls? Watcha lookin’ at?”

“Hunters, hunters…

They’re always getting better.”

The whole group started chanting together, guys stomping and girls clapping. “Know what? Know what?

[boys] These guys they’ll make you sweat!

[girls] These guys they make us hot!

Ready to take the bet!

And leave you all to rot!”

Music started blasting and they did a quick but impressive routine. It starts simple, but Jared’s eyes increasingly go wide as they start to show off the big stuff. He thinks his jaw actually drops when he watches Jensen and the other guy, uh, Steve, stand up straight in mirroring positions and suddenly progress in a transversal manner from the back to the front in a line of several backhand springs and finishing on a back flip. When Jensen whips around, he sees Jared and his eyes go wide for a moment.

It doesn’t stop him, though and he keeps his moves perfect. The beat is fast, probably exhausting, and Jared wonders, watching Jensen grab a girl’s waist and lift her up and higher like she weights nothing, what Jensen meant about his shoulders.

Jared’s are supposed to scream football. It felt like a compliment. But now that he’s watching the other guy pull move mighty moves, he knows he’ll never be able to do most of what Jensen does.

That, for example.

Jensen and some guys fall into a split, looking like they simply bounce off the floor easily. So much that his inner thighs hurt upon seeing that. Then they all execute in perfect sync a series of hip hop moves. Some girls, flyers, come and climb swiftly on knees and shoulders, Jensen stands on the left side, holding up a girl with only one hand. They hold the position, and Jared wonders for a moment how Jensen is holding her there, and wonders what parts of their bodies the flyers can really keep to themselves.

With his free arm, Jensen executes a high V with the others and they chant again.

Jared chuckles as Jensen actually clicks his fingers at him and winks. Then he lets his flyer down and they applaud themselves. Jared joins in the clapping, making a face clearing showing how impressed he is.

A few minutes later, he finds himself leaving the locker room walking in step with Jensen, soon they are joined with a bunch of other people from several teams. “So, cheerleading.” Jared states, hoping to make one more friend.

Jensen chuckles. “Varsity, baby.” He said, then wraps his arm around a girl. The one he was supporting earlier. “Say, Shell, we’ve got this move down, now, I think.”

She simply nods, then looks over at Jared. “What do you think?”

“You guys were great.” Jared replies honestly.

“I’m Shelly. Hi.”

“Hey, Shelly. I’m Jared.”

“So, I hear you got the gig. Jared’s the new quarterback.” Jensen tells her.

“Oh, wow.” Shelly perks up. “Are you single?” As Jared’s eyes widen she explains. “You’re a pretty juicy piece of gossip. It’s great to have the info before everyone. Especially since you’re not bad looking.”

“Thanks, I guess.” Jared says, and Jensen laughs. “And, yeah… I’m single. I just moved here, so I don’t really know anyone.”

“Cool.” Shelly runs off, meeting some friends.

Jensen smiles and shakes his head and looks back at Jared’s still stunned face. “She’s a great girl.”

“She’s… friendly.” Jared searches for words. “And peppy.”

“Hence the captaining of the squad.” Jensen grins as they head into the parking lot.

“So… how did you end up being a male cheerleader?” Jared asks. “I remember, in my old high school, there weren’t any guys on the team. In here it’s like fifty fifty. It’s great.”

“Well, yeah… I guess, when there are already guys on the team it’s easier to make room for one more, you know? I mean, it’s how I got in. I think, originally, it’s a bunch of guys from the hood that had created a hip hop club or something that merged with the female cheerleading squad.” Jensen explains. “As for me, well, I did gymnastics for ten years and some break dance. Then Shelly, that you saw earlier, convinced me to try out. She knows me really well, we’ve lived in the same neighborhood since we were kids.”

“That’s nice.” Jared slows down when they approach his car. “That’s my stop.” He looks at Jensen again. “It was nice meeting you, Jensen.”

“Likewise.” There’s something dancing in Jensen’s eyes that makes Jared feel like he’s known the guy forever. “Well, if ‘til then I don’t see you in class… I’ll catcha on the field.” He says, walking backward. “Welcome to the team… Hunter.” He winks and turns around, jogging off.

Dude, Jared is beginning to understand why cheerleading squads were also called pep squads. He usually feels the boost of energy after practice but… Jensen and Shelly actually look like they could go on another round.

As he walks to his trunk to shove his gym bag inside, he notices someone’s put a sticker on his back windshield. ‘Go Hunters! Go Crestfall High!’ He hears chuckling and looks up to see one of his teammates and what looks like his cheerleader girlfriend, by the way they’re holding hands, walk by him. They both smile.

Okay, so… maybe not that much hostility.
