Captain von Karma, I am requesting permission to take control of the ground forces. These things, as you have no doubt discovered, have no will and cannot be defeated like human forces. Rest assured that anyone fighting them uninformed will die a hideously painful death and rise shortly after to join their ranks, provided they have enough flesh ( Read more... )

...what the hell-

What are these things, really? Only a fool would believe in the "walking dead".

They are corpses, raised to life by magic and hungry for human flesh. My family's organization has dealt in their extermination for generations. If you think me a fool, perhaps you would like to be the first to engage them, Commander.

...Hmph. Fine.

It hardly matters. I will crush the foolish, shambling things either way.

...You seem to have had some previous experience with these things, whatever they are.

What do you know of their origins?

I have. A great deal, in fact.

I do not know how this swarm was created, but generally it is the result of a viral outbreak, spread by contact with infected flesh. It could be something else, though - I've known monsters able to create them.

I feel at this stage that the cause is not so important as their extermination.

Oh, I quite agree - I assume fire works just as well as bullets when applied liberally enough~?

And perhaps we shall talk later about such things, when the present danger is averted.

Provided there's nothing in the vicinity for them to burn and you give them sufficient time to catch properly, I should think it does.

Agreed. The cause will be important.

Right in the head, of course, m- sir! They're not going to get anyone else's brains as long as I've got any bullets.

Why in God's name are you the only one equipped to deal with this?

...Excellent work. Carry on.

(OOC: Strikes are very, very gone. XD)

None of those things'll even get near your crew, sir!

[OOC: Bad experience at a carnival, and as she learned from the captain, the best defense is a good offense!]

...this is all starting to sound like something rather ridiculous and terrifying from inside a horror novel.

Unfortunately, Ms. Andrews, it is the truth. Will you be fighting them?

I-I'm actually quite useless in combat.

..but if there's anything, anything at all I can help with such as medical supplies or something of the sort, I'd gladly lend a hand.

Tch. As if we needed any more inconveniences than we're already loaded with...

[OOC: To his credit, Hijikata isn't as freaked out as I thought he would be... especially since he's scared to death about ghosts.]
