This is a victory?

So, apparently we tracked down al-Zarqawi last night and dropped two 500 lb bombs on him. Killing him, his spiritual advisor, a woman, a child and two other unidentified people. Now we are busily displaying his multilated remains for all to see on every media outlet we can find while our President claims that "Justice has been served ( Read more... )

I think that this game of terrorist tennis must use Buck Cake batter instead of balls... or perhaps Santorum.... Here are the announcers now!

"The score stands Love-Love....Justice has been served..... Oh, and there's the return. Boy that was a messy one, got it all over the spectators! Ugh! in fact I think some of it got clear up here in the booth.... This is utterly disgusting! Tell me Frank, why do people play this game again? "

if you want to feel the world can in fact be a decent place, have a look at the interview from this morning of michael bergman, whose son was beheaded by a person presumed to be al-zarqawi.

i wish, if i ever have to face something like he has, that i'll have half the dignity he does.

Yes... perhaps he did. Certainly he needed to be stopped. I won't shed a tear for him - he was a ruthless, murdering bastard. But what purpose does displaying his remains on TV and making a big 4x4 poster of them serve? Al-Qaida has already confirmed his death. The fact that we grant dignity even to our enemies is one of the things that makes us the good guys.

How we approach things is as important as what we do. I fear as the war against a thing gets harder, we come closer and closer to losing sight of that.

Good post, guy. Zarqawi may have needed killing, but if he'd beeen standing on Madison Avenue in New York city, I strongly doubt we would've dropped two 500 lb. bombs on him. Iraqi bystanders don't count as much.

Yes, exactally.
Thank you for finding a much more straight forward and tasteful way of saying what I was in part atempting to say in my first comment.

It's showing on Comcast Demand and HBO. I feel our Pres and anyone else needs to show the many soliders getting seriously injured and dying over there. It did a good job of not taking sides...just showing what happens to a solider or Iraqy when they get hit by a IED. It was very good. Helps remind you that even thought the media coverage of the war has fallen away compared to earlier this battle...that we are still there and our boys are still risking their lives. Reminds me why I advocate for the disabled reservists that get screwed when they come home. I need to record it.
