Ok so I come asking a favor. It's totally Days of our Lives related and yes it's a soap opera so I'll understand if you don't want to help me, but I'd like your opinions.

All right, now that I have your attention, I'll get to the point. Days of our Lives is usually known for being hokey and well it's a soap opera so you have to take leaps sometimes to get what's going on. I understand that, but I also feel like if they are going to dabble with a little serious reality then they ought to be responsible for that storyline's effects and the writer's are then obligated to the viewers to take on the issue head on and not scurry from it.
So, what am I blathering on about? A man raped a woman on the show and now the current storyline has her alone with him all the time. Her mother is a the rapist, but didn't recommend she seek counseling. This is her second rape in her life. Perhaps we could have gotten a little something from the writers about her feelings. Her father is a cop and her stepdad is a would be CIA spy and her Uncle is also a cop. Why wouldn't they do something? She's pregnant and it could be her husband's or it could be this man's. Why don't they deal with the issues? It's sad that the people that write the show don't care about how it affects the people that are watching. It sickens me to see this once smart, spunky character be dumbed down to suit the current storyline. If there is another reason for this, then they should show it. They are romanticizing rape and making it ok. The man is walking around free and being allowed to be alone with her. It's not right and I'm trying to get the word out for people to write into the show to express their outrage.
So, that favor. If you could just take a few moments and express how you feel as a woman or male about the idea of this storyline. You don't have to be an avid viewer just disgusted at this idea. It could make a difference. Maybe then these television shows that do decide to have a rape storyline will take the responsiblity to handle it with care that goes along with it. They want to show a girl raped, have her tormented, but then nothing after that. What message does this send to other rape victims, girls who could be raped one day.
Again, I realize it's just a soap opera and a television show, but they need to know they have an obligation and that the audience isn't stupid.
Thanks for your time.
