A thought from the dark. anonymous November 6 2008, 22:09:51 UTC
In many ways the circle has not yet come around, Able our epitaph in the story has looked to far and wide. This far-sited approach to the conflict is disrupting the need for a near-sited mentality. This might sound like a backwards approach, but in thinking of the situation the stubbornness of a late bloomer is in action. Think of this as her teenage rebellion. Instead of her parents, which I'm guessing confuses and limits her in many ways, being the target she is directing it to her role siblings in this world. Look not at bringing every one together, but bringing Lilith to Cain for talk and eventual understandings between them. Once Lilith recognizes the world that Cain has dreamt of since his sixteenth year is the right one, and that Lilith is not the center of the universe, she will come into herself and the family once again ( ... )

I am bowed, to a degree, to the wisdom of such a suggestion.

Looking from the outside, I know that Able has been really hurt by the entire thing, which may have resulted in his, as you put it, "far-sited approach." Sometimes safety can be found in the distance, where it cannot be achieved in close contact. However, I do think that there is wisdom in the closer approach. The only bind I see is Able's fear of a disastrous confrontation, and his...shall we say, overactive imagination. He'll need a lot of encouragement to see such a path through. Luckily, I know he has a lot of supportive friends, and the love of his life is like good walking staff in rough terrain like this. I know, given time, we'll see him through this.

Thank you, voice from the dark. Your thoughts are most helpful.
Though, I still wonder to other opinions and solutions to this...I'd love to hear someone else's thoughts.

I agree with your anonymous comment. You have to make Lilith see that children aren't so bad. Your anonymous person is right, you have to be gentle with her, or she will just freak out more. As much as I would like to say "slap her across the face and grow the fuck up" something tells me you can't do that with her. She needs to be shown that children aren't that bad, and she needs to be shown that her infantile and puerile reactions are uncalled for and she should be happy for her friends ( ... )
