Nisi Shawl once managed a used bookstore here in Ann Arbor. I remember that she bought some copies of my first book to sell (new) at the store, just because I was a local author, which was encouraging. I don't think she sold any until I ran out of stock and referred my mail-order customers to her store.

There was something wise and serene about her that I really liked, and I'm glad she's finding success as an author.

"Wise and serene". Yes, that would describe a lot of her protagonists.

I guess you're right--I do seem to post a bit lately about stuff whose path you too have crossed. Ms. Shawl seems to me much more worthy of our attention than the waffle fight hotel.
