Oh, you're getting into the Benjamin January books! I adore this series, although hearing them described as "Regency" made me double-take -- the period may be the same, but the setting and the feel of the books is emphatically not ( ... )

Fever Season, you mean? I'll be at that one this month, I expect.

I would never expect a depiction of the life of POC in pre-civil war American Louisiana to be anything but horrific.
