I am a Star Wars geek who is sadly not too terribly happy with the prequels, but unfortunately I'm swamped with RL (including a work schedule from hades) and a monstrously long and involved Star Wars AU already, so here I am, posting some bunnies I hope somebody will adopt!
Plot bunny #1: This is a major prequel AU. What happens is this: Qui-Gon Jinn survives the battle with Darth Maul because Obi-Wan manages to find the strength to use the Force to knock the remaining half of the Sith's lightstaff awry just as he's about to skewer Qui-Gon. When the gate cycles again, Obi-Wan rejoins the weary Qui-Gon in the battle in the melting pit, and it is Obi-Wan's blow that defeats (and dismembers) Darth Maul. Because the Jedi Council still wouldn't budge on the issue of Anakin, though, afterwards Qui-Gon is forced to take his most recent Padawan (Obi-Wan, who has been Knighted for his killing of the Sith) and his newest Padawan (Anakin) and leave the Jedi Order to set up shop in the Outer Rim. Jedi disillusioned with the politicking of the Jedi Council soon follow, including Dooku, and the Clone Wars began almost immediately because those who would otherwise have become Separatists ally themselves with Qui-Gon's new order and Dooku has brought all of his knowledge - including the creation of the clone armies and the fact that the Republic is currently being run by a Dark Lord of the Sith - with him. The Jedi Council have refused to believe Dooku's warnings about Sidious, just as they refused to believe Qui-Gon's warnings about the Sith who attacked him on Tatooine, and they refuse to have anything to do with Qui-Gon or any of his people now, and so Palpatine (and therefore the Republic) manages to use the clones as an excuse to declare war on Qui-Gon's order and his followers, in an effort to protect his secret and advance his plans for the creation of a Dark Empire. The actual timeframe of this fic is fairly loose, as it can be set at any time after the wars start (and yes, I do actually mean wars, plural, not just one war) or even during one of the many truces that end up peppering the entire arc of the wars. However, this particular plot bunny is meant to be Qui-Gon/Dooku and Obi-Wan/Anakin centric, and these are meant to be real, working relationships, not just a situation where half of one (or both) of the pairs is pining for or has an unrequited crush on the other half of said pair, though obviously the nature of the Obi-Wan/Anakin relationship can still be in its pre-slash stages, depending on how close to the end of TPM you choose to begin the fic. This is meant to be a serious AU, so please make it clear that the two men in each pairing love each other and either will be or are committed lifemates.
Bonus points quotes: "I have a bad feeling about this . . ."
"Master . . . Take a flying leap."
"You know I hate it when you do that!"
"Do or do not, eh? What about door number three?"
"Well, she said I could drop in whenever I wanted . . . "
"That was not an invitation to tackle me, Anakin!"
Bonus points situations/occurences: Floating fruit or dessert; Obi-Wan speaking Yoda speach or/and mimicking other Council members; Qui-Gon and his soulmate entering into some delicate negotiations while Anakin and Obi-Wan are otherwise occupied.
Plot bunny #2: This is a specific "what if" type of plot bunny. Y'all remember that moment in Attack of the Clones where Anakin and Obi-Wan are about to follow Zam Wesell into the bar/club? Obi-Wan is a bit frustrated and frightened by his Padawan's recklessness and half sighs, half snaps, "Why do I get the feeling you're going to be the death of me?!" And Anakin turns towards him and cries, "Don't say that Master! You're the closest thing I have to a father . . . I love you. I don't want to cause you pain." Obi-Wan's less than patient or understanding response is to demand, "Then why don't you listen to me?!" Anakin, of course, responds with "I am trying," after which the two just continue on into the bar as if nothing had happened. Well, this plot bunny is an AU that revolves around this moment - starting there or earlier, whichever will work best - and crucially alters Obi-Wan's response to Anakin's declaration ("I love you. I don't want to cause you pain") so that Obi-Wan pauses a moment to get ahold of himself, takes a deep breath, and then calmly explains to his beloved Padawan that he would not lecture him, he would not scold, if he did not care for Anakin immensely and worry about him, about his safety, frantically whenever Anakin insists on doing such recklessly, unnecessarily dangerous things as leaping from a moving speeder and losing his lightsaber in the solitary pursuit of an assassin before then proceeding to follow said assassin on foot, by himself, while in possession of not so much as one physical weapon with which to shield or defend himself. What's more, Obi-Wan is also going to essentially rise above his own greatest failing (his inability to speak openly of his own emotions, which Obi-Wan has been taught, by his life within the Jedi Temple, to regard as personal failings) by facing an emotional issue head-on by asking his distraught and emotionally fragile Padawan the following question: "Anakin, you do know that I love you, don't you?"
Essentially, this plot bunny is an Obi-Wan/Anakin AU take on AotC, but other than the above mentioned requirements, it's pretty darn flexible. The fic can pick up at any point during Attack of the Clones (hey, the more y'all want to write, the happier I'll be!) and last well past the beginning of the Clone Wars (or the time in which the Clone Wars otherwise would've been): it just has to revolve around Obi-Wan's much more emotionally honest response to Anakin's very specific declaration that "I love you. I don't want to cause you pain." Include Padme and her situation and the link to Kamino however much you would like, but I'm mainly interested in an honest look at the depth of love and the real relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin. And I'm not talking about a situation where one is pining for or has an unrequited crush on the other, or one feels a depth of love for the other that is not returned. We're talking about a relationship that is much more than the ol' convenient warm body on a long, lonely mission. Sex is not necessary, be it in the fic or in their relationship, but I want it to be clear that these two love each other and either will be or are lifemates. How the realization of the depth of this relationship effects the two and the outcome of their pursuit of Zam Wesell I leave pretty much to the discretion of the author. But the resultant delay in their pursuit of the assassin could very well result in one of the following three situations: Zam manages to successfully escape out the back; Zam sneaks out the back, the Jedi catch up to her in time to witness Jango Fett attack her, and the two Jedi attack him; or Jango Fett comes into the bar after either Zam or the two Jedi during the delay. These are just suggestions, though. The one requirement of this fic is Obi-Wan's different response to Anakin's declaration of love, which Anakin must answer truthfully. (Personally, I see Anakin throwing himself at and kissing a startled Obi-Wan, but again, this is a flexible plot bunny. She can go several different ways, so long as none of them end up with either one of our Jedi boys in bed with Padme.)
Bonus points quotes: "These dreams, these nightmares of yours, may be visions of a possible future - a future we can change, if we act quickly enough."
"I have a bad feeling about this . . ."
"You know I hate it when you do that!"
"Do or do not, eh? Well, what if I want to take door number three?"
"What I have are daydreams of her. What I want is a reality with you!"
"I could never have dreamed that your skin could be so soft, so smooth . . ."
"Well, she said I could drop in whenever I wanted!" & "I don't believe she meant it literally, though."
Bonus points situations/occurences: Floating fruit or dessert; Obi-Wan talking in Yoda speach or/and mimicking other Council members, much to his Padawan's distraction and/or amusement; Obi-Wan and Anakin privately entering into some, ahem, delicate negotiations regarding how/when they are allowed to touch one another and what Obi-Wan would like Anakin to do about the way he feels about him (think the scene where Anakin asks Padme, "What can I do? I will do anything you ask. If you are suffering as much as I am, tell me!").
If you choose to adopt (and please, please, please adopt!) have fun!!!!
