The agency responsible for your adoption might have search services available. That's how I found my birth mom. Catholic Social Services conducted the search for me. Of course, I didn't have her name so I needed more help. You might be able to do it on your own.
I've already googled, done reverse searches, found matching names in possible locations....
the problem is, I don't want to pay any internet website to pay for a release of her address or phone number when I'm not even sure if will be accurate.
Adoption.com has a free database you can register for and search. If you already have information like her name, your DOB, and your birth city/state, it should be pretty easy to figure out if she's also registered there.
I also agree with marphilly -- contacting the agency you were adopted through is another good place to start.
I have the same problem... I was adopted through a private adoption attorney, and she's dead. I have no idea how to find out who got her files, or if they were destroyed, or what. I don't even have a name for birth mother... nada... just the hospital where I was born and obviously, my birthday. No clue where to start!

she's not on any of them.
and to continue my luck, the woman who handled the adoption passed away in 1994.
