so it's absolutely freezing in madrid. ahhhh. and i´ve been running around this morning trying to find any books to learn spanish in english and um THERE ARE NONE. i went to two different big chain bookstores pero nada

You are still adjusting, dear. I know things are hectic but you are going to do perfectly fine in Spanish so don't worry your pretty head.

my love i felt exactly that same way when i went to france. like, "WHAT? ARE YOU SPEAKING REAL WORDS? BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE SAYING". but it gets better, i promise *hugs* you're still adjusting and spoken language is so different from written language because of the weird little details that get dropped or picked up. also, you're in an immersion setting- and that's awesome. you'll pick things up so much faster that way! and dreaming in spanish is so good, you don't even know. it means your brain is beginning to be able to actually think in another language, you know? which is really what it's all about. if you can turn off your english brain, even for just a few minutes at a time, then that's amazing progress. <3

Oh my. It sounds so wonderful but strange too. I love your descriptions of everything. It must be so freaky to be in that class, but I'm sure the comprehension thing is all down to your anxiety and the fact it's all new and strange. In a short while it will be fine and natural, I'm sure.

I know what you mean about spoken spanish being a lot harder to follow. It will take some time but you will get it. don't feel bad about asking for an explanation or them to repeat it slower or anything. You are getting an incredible experience and should learn as much as you can.

The market sounds amazing. Just wonderful and like it would be full of hidden gems.

i wouldn't worry about the spanish. it's obviously already clicking since you're dreaming in it. that's your brain's way of telling you that todo esta bien.
