It really doesn't matter when you got to love football. It only matters how you feel about it now. Later is better than never anyway :) Enjoy the moment! It's yours. And it's just a matter of time when you have your own history and become 'an old fan'.

not fucking true. one way or another, you found this team and it found you and that is that. it doesn't matter that you haven't been watching since birth. sure, it's a different experience, but what matters is that you love this team with all of your heart, and your heart is so big, michelle, it really is. and if anyone begrudges you for being a "new fan" or whatever, i am astounded because seeing and reading how you love this team and this country and what we are,intrinsically, i never could. you will have your own history as a fan, as unique and wonderful and heartbreaking as everyone else's, and you know what? you will have this, this team, this moment in time, this tournament, as a part of it. and that is beautiful.
i don't have an epic story. i don't have a family history. none of my (known) family is from spain. none of them speak spanish. we're not a football watching family. i don't deserve maybe to be in the same group of fans as people who have loved and supported the spanish national team their whole lives, but here i am. i don't care to admit that i'm a new fan. i don't have any shame in it, and i don't feel intimidated or impressed by people who have been fans for years longer than me, or lifetimes longer than me because i know how much i love this team, this country, and no other person in the world could lower that, or diminish that.Damn. I sososo wish I could watch the final with you guys! I am blessedly free of work though, so at least I'll be able to see it live instead of a recording (though that means I won't be able to fast-forward through the commercials. :/ )
