I need an explaination why travel between dimensions is impossible in the Whoverse. Feel free to explain this as someone well versed in Whoverse cannon would do so, and feel free to assume that your audience has a the kind of passing knowledge of space/time travel one gets from excessive viewing of science fiction (like, say, *cough*Star Trek*cough

I shall simply quote a bit of dialogue at you - I presume you've heard of The Time War (greatest war ever, with the Timelords and the Daleks fighting over all of creation and lots and lots of planets destroyed, and in the end the Doctor had to kill both species to save the universe). This bit is from a S2 episode where the Doctor, Rose and Mickey have accidentally ended up in a different dimension:

Oh this is perfect!!! Seriously. It even works for the plot of the story (as much as this crack addled piece of fan-service could be considered to have a plot).

Sadly it disables one vehicle I was planning on using to move some characters from point A to point B, but I think I can work around it using something else.
